The most revered Sant Shiromani Shrimad Leelanand Thakur (Pagal Baba) was born in a high Brahmin family in Balta Ratanganj (Tangail) District Maiman Singh, presently in Bangladesh. The revered father’s name was Shri Kalicharan Chakraborty and the revered mother’s name was Smt. Annapurna Devi. The family environment was religious. The father used to run his own business. Babashri was able to help his father in his business only for a short time.

To guide their son on the worldly path, his parents got him married to a Brahmin girl of high family. His wife’s name was Sudevi. Mother Sudevi was the true life partner of her Bhagavat husband. She was extremely religious and devoted to her husband. Around 1946, when Himachal Pradesh was not divided into Indian land, the lines of division were not drawn on the map of the country due to the machinations of politicians, at that time Parivrajk Shri Lalanand Thakur started for Assam. There is a place named Sapat village in Gwalpara district of Assam where Babashri came and stayed there.

It is a place worth visiting. Babashri built a temple near Vrindavan.
